The mission of the North Carolina Association for Biomedical Research (NCABR) is to provide support for and promote public understanding of bioscience research.
Founded in 1989 by North Carolina’s leading bioscience research institutions, NCABR is the nonprofit organization in the Southeastern United States dedicated to advancing the public’s appreciation for the remarkable benefits of bioscience research and careers.
Our members include academia, industry, government, nonprofit research organizations and professional societies.
Our role is to provide objective, timely and authoritative information to students, educators, government representatives, the media, members of the research community and the general public.
We offer workshops and conferences – both in person and virtually – to support the bioscience research community on topics such as rigor and reproducibility, research integrity, IACUC administration, biosecurity, biosafety and bioethics. We provide timely, relevant education that strengthens research practices and promotes ethical standards. We offer resources and strategies to help scientists communicate more effectively with non-scientists – because great research deserves to be understood.
Since 1989, NCABR has launched innovative science education outreach programs and has designed a variety of bioscience education and career-related publications — many of which are the first of their kind in the country and are used nationally.
NCABR is a member of States United for Biomedical Research (SUBR), a nationwide network of public education and research advocates. SUBR members include NCABR’s sister organizations in numerous states throughout the country.
